Services for Indie Authors & Publishers
Make your story shine! From full-length novels to short stories, fiction to non-fiction, I can help you polish your story from beginning to end.
Developmental editing services
Developmental editing is perfect for authors when you are looking for high-level feedback on your draft manuscript. Regardless of what service you choose, I’ll focus on things like story structure, point of view, characterization, setting, pacing, and themes of your story, to help make your story the best it can be!
Collaborative Developmental edit
Think of this as the full-service deal for editing your manuscript. This is a collaborative process that will involve back and forth between the two of us. First, I’ll read through your manuscript and develop a custom proposal of the high-level edits I recommend based on your goals for your manuscript. This is to make sure we are both on the same page before I delve any deeper! Once you’ve reviewed the proposal and we’ve agreed to any changes, I’ll go through your manuscript and make in-text edits and comments throughout to make the changes we discussed a reality.
WHAT YOU GET:
An custom proposal of my suggested developmental edits
In-text edits throughout your manuscript using tracked changes (MS Word or Google Docs)
Comments throughout your manuscript
Up to 5 hours of video calls throughout the developmental editing process
Manuscript assessment
This is a perfect option if you want detailed feedback on your entire manuscript, but are comfortable making edits yourself after you’ve received editorial feedback. In this service, I’ll read through your manuscript and provide advice and suggestions for developmental level edits such as the flow and organization of your manuscript, point of view, and characters, and setting. You’ll get these in the form of comments throughout your manuscript plus an editorial letter, and then you can incorporate those edits yourself.
What you get:
An 10+ page editorial letter analyzing your manuscript
Comments throughout your manuscript linking back to the editorial letter (MS Word or Google Docs)
A 1-hour video call once you receive your edits to go over my feedback and discuss the next steps for your manuscript
First fifty Pages assessment
If you’re in the early stages of your manuscript and looking for a low-budget option for professional feedback, this service is for you! I’ll read through the first fifty pages of your manuscript (up to 25,000 words) and provide you with an editorial letter analyzing concepts such as characterization, audience, and pacing, and setting. I’ll also add comments throughout your manuscript to contextualize the advice in the editorial letter.
What you get:
A 5+ page editorial letter analyzing the first fifty pages of your manuscript
Comments throughout your manuscript linking back to the editorial letter (MS Word or Google Docs)
A 1-hour video call once you receive your edits to go over my feedback and discuss the next steps for your manuscript
Line and copy editing services
Line and copy editing are what turn your manuscript into a professional-looking book! Line editing focuses on your prose, making sure each sentence reads coherently and is true to your authorial voice. Copy editing deals with mechanics, like grammar, spelling, punctuation. I do offer these services separately, but for indie authors I typically suggest completing them both at once with my Content Edit package.
Content edit
This is where your words really come to life! A content edit is my special package for indie authors and publishers who want both a line and a copy edit, done at the same time. Bundling the two services together is a budget-friendly way to improve sentence flow and language, while also ensuring your grammar, spelling, and punctuation are consistent throughout your manuscript. Typically, this service takes place after a developmental edit by myself or another editor.
WHAT YOU GET:
In-text edits throughout your manuscript using tracked changes (MS Word or Google Docs)
Comments throughout your manuscript describing the writing techniques and philosophies behind my suggested stylistic edits
A custom style sheet for your manuscript outlining all style and mechanical decisions and descriptions of characters, settings, and timelines
A 1-hour video call once you receive your edits to go over my feedback and discuss the next steps for your manuscript

So you only want a copy edit? No problem! Especially for self-publishing authors, a copy edit is key to making your book read just as professionally as a traditionally published book. I’ll read through your manuscript and edit for consistent mechanics throughout, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation. In this service, I don’t do line editing, which makes it ideal if you are working on a budget or with a short timeline.
Fifty first pages content edit
If you’re querying agents or publishers, the first fifty pages are often what they ask to be sent in if they are deciding whether to read your full manuscript. A content (line + copy) edit of these pages will help you make a great first impression! I’ll polish up your first fifty pages so that the prose sings and the mechanics are free of distracting errors.
